9/11 – 20th Anniversary Commemoration Tribute Event

September 11, 2021 @ 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Free

A second annual Fayetteville 9-11 Tribute is being planned for Saturday, September 11, at our new City Center Park. This year’s event will feature a special 20th anniversary commemoration of the tragic events that took place on that day in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.

This event is again being hosted by the City of Fayetteville and Main Street Fayetteville along with the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. Last year’s event was sponsored by several local organizations and individuals, and those sponsorship opportunities are being offered for 2021 as well.

The 2021 Fayette County 9-11 Tribute will begin at 6pm on the lawn at City Center Park. The ceremony will again include special music, speeches, a helicopter flyover, and other performances to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. There will also be a special recognition of U.S. military prisoners of war and personnel who are missing in action.

The program will be followed after sunset with a free screening of the family film “Playing with Fire” (Rated PG). Static public safety displays and food trucks will be on site.

For Sponsorship information, contact Mayor Ed Johnson: ejohnson@fayetteville-ga.gov.
